About Us

Dead On Arrival is a Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k members only game club formed to support and organize the local Warhammer community in Hudiksvall Sweden.  Born from a group of players that already play Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k, the goal of the club is to offer a simple way for players to find each other and compete in club tournaments and ongoing Warhammer campaigns.

Our Non-exclusive club is open to anyone over the age of 18 wishing to join and on your behalf the club will push to create as many features and benefits for club members as possible.  The club is currently in development and will officially launch on April 4th, 2010 with its first ever event.  If you would like to get involved in the club before our official launch you should contact the club president at TheBoss@War-Doa.Com.

Club Features At Launch

While we intend to be ever vigilant in growing our club roster after our initial launch the following is a list of features that will be available on April 4th, 2010

Becoming A Member

Becoming a member is a relatively easy process, however we have not automated it on our website completely to ensure that our club always has a human presence, eliminating the anonymity of the internet.  The following are the requirements and steps for becoming a member.

Still Have Questions?

Its reasonable for anyone considering joining our club to have questions and your more than welcome to email us at TheBoss@War-Doa.Com and ask, we are happy to answer any questions you have.  To pre-empt some of the more obvious questions however here is a quick FAQ about the club.

Q: If you’re Swedish why is your site in English?

A: Aside from the fact that the club organizer is American, we feel that since Warhammer is a game created in English and the rules are writen in English it’s simpler for us to maintain a site in English.  We do intend to translate portions of our site to Swedish and articles will often be written in Swedish and we do consider ourselves a Swedish Club.  You do not need to speak English to be a member of the club nor will the fact that you don’t speak English be a problem for anyone, but because the rulebooks are written in English its difficult to imagine someone playing Warhammer without at least a basic grasp of English.

Q: Why must I be 18 years old to be a member?

A: There is really no simple answer to this question, it was simply the preference of the club founders to have consenting adults in the club to prevent complications.  This is not a hard line rule and we may make exceptions in the future but for now we are only accepting members of ages 18 and up.

Q: Are there any obligations, demands or expectations of members?

A: Aside from filling out the membership form and agreeing to the code of conduct that is attached we only ask that members remember that as a club member when you play the game you represent us so do it with class.   Some events will require a small donation to the club to help pay for said event, but no Dead On Arrival events are ever mandatory and there will never be any mandatory fee’s associated to the club.

Q: Is this an official Games Workshop club and are we associated with Games Workshop in anyway?

A: Dead on Arrival will always be an independent club and while we have no objections to members participating and supporting Games Workshop, quite to the contrary we love Games Workshop,  our tournaments and events will never be officially sanctioned by Games Workshop.  This is just a preference of the founders which ensures that we always have complete control of the direction and feel of the club which we intend to always be a easy going one.

Q: What other benefits can we expect in the future as Dead On Arrival club members?

A: The Warhammer miniatures hobby is an expensive one, and often an inaccessible one hence one of the main benefits we hope to bring to our members as our club expands is a reduction in costs and easier access to supplies and miniatures. We are working with other Swedish gaming groups and clubs as well as local hobby shops in trying to bring the costs down and the supply up for our members.  Most notably however the biggest benefit is access to players who have armies and are looking for to meet new players and have matches.

Q: What is the club card good for and what do we do with it?

A: The club card is a way for us to track our members as well as being an ID for local hobby stores to identify our members which we hope in the future will sponsor our club officially.
